SPORTS WORLD-MAHELA JAYAWARDENE

Mahela Jayawardene is a retired Sri Lankan cricketer who is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of the sport. He was born on May 27, 1977 in Colombo, Sri Lanka and made his debut for the Sri Lankan national team in 1997. Jayawardene played for Sri Lanka until 2015 and was known for his stylish batting and his ability to score runs all around the ground.

Throughout his career, Jayawardene scored over 25,000 runs in international cricket, including over 11,000 runs in Test cricket. He is one of only four players in history to score over 10,000 runs in both Test and One Day International (ODI) cricket and is considered one of the most successful batsmen of all time. In addition to his success as a batsman, Jayawardene was also known for his fielding ability and his off-spin bowling.

Jayawardene retired from international cricket in 2015 and is currently working as a cricket commentator and coach. He is highly respected and admired by fans and fellow players alike and is considered one of the greatest cricketers of all time.
