WORLD WONDERS - THE GREAT WALL, CHINA

The Great Wall of China is a series of fortifications that were built, rebuilt, and maintained over a period of more than two thousand years. The wall stretches for over 13,000 miles across northern China, from the Yellow Sea to the Gobi Desert, and was constructed to protect the Chinese Empire from invaders.

The Great Wall is considered one of the greatest wonders of the world and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is made up of a series of walls, towers, and fortresses that were built from a variety of materials, including brick, tamped earth, and stone.

The construction of the Great Wall began in the 7th century BCE and continued for over 2000 years, with various dynasties adding to and renovating the wall as needed. The most well-known section of the wall was built during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), and it is this section that attracts the most tourists today.

The Great Wall of China is an impressive feat of human engineering and serves as a testament to the ingenuity and determination of the Chinese people. It is a must-see destination for anyone visiting China and offers a unique glimpse into the country's rich history and cultural heritage.
