WORLD WONDERS - MACHU PICCHU, PERU

Machu Picchu is an ancient Inca city located in the Andes Mountains of Peru. It is located on a mountain ridge at an altitude of 7,970 feet and is surrounded by lush vegetation and breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

Machu Picchu was built in the mid-15th century and served as a royal estate for the Inca emperor Pachacuti. It was abandoned after the fall of the Inca Empire and was rediscovered by the outside world in 1911. Since then, it has become one of the most popular tourist destinations in South America.

Machu Picchu is known for its well-preserved and intricate stone structures, which were built using advanced Inca engineering techniques. The city is divided into two main sections: the agricultural sector, which includes terraced fields and irrigation canals, and the urban sector, which includes the city's main buildings and temples.

Machu Picchu was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 and is now visited by millions of people each year. It is considered one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and is a must-see destination for anyone interested in the history and culture of the ancient Inca civilization.
